Easy St. Patrick’s Day Treats You Can Make at Home

St. Patrick’s Day celebrations aren’t complete without a little sweetness—because the leprechaun shouldn’t be the only one getting Lucky Charms! Betty Mafla, owner of Shimmer and Delights, shared a few fun, festive, and incredibly simple treats that anyone can make at home.

1. Cake Mix Crinkle Cookies (Super Easy!)

One of the easiest treats to whip up is a batch of colorful crinkle cookies made from boxed cake mix. Yes, cake mix! It’s a quick shortcut that still gives you delicious, soft cookies.

What you need:

  • 1 box of plain cake mix

  • 2 eggs

  • ¼ cup vegetable oil

  • Green food coloring

  • Granulated sugar

  • Powdered sugar

How to make them:

  1. Mix the cake mix, eggs, oil, and food coloring until fully combined.

  2. Refrigerate the dough for about 30 minutes—it should be thick and slightly pasty.

  3. Use a spoon to scoop the dough into granulated sugar, then roll it into a ball.

  4. Coat each ball in powdered sugar.

  5. Lightly flatten the cookies on a baking sheet.

  6. Bake at 350°F for 12–15 minutes.

These cookies bake up beautifully cracked and festive, and the recipe makes quite a few—perfect for parties or classroom treats. You can also customize the flavor by adding cinnamon or other extracts.

2. Rainbow Jell-O Cups

These adorable individual treats are colorful, fun, and kid-friendly to assemble.

You’ll need:

  • Prepared Jell-O in clear cups

  • Whipped cream

  • Sour candy rainbow strips

How to assemble:

  1. Fill your cups with Jell-O and chill.

  2. Add a swirl of whipped cream from one side of the cup to the other.

  3. Place a candy rainbow strip over the whipped cream to form a little arch.

They’re bright, cheerful, and so simple—perfect for parties or school events.

3. St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispie Treats

Make your standard Rice Krispie treats, then use holiday-themed cookie cutters to create festive shapes. Kids especially love this part. These can be dipped in white chocolate, drizzled with green candy melts, or sprinkled with gold sugar for extra sparkle.

4. Cake Pops and Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

For those who want to add more variety to the table, cake pops and chocolate-covered strawberries are always crowd-pleasers. Decorate them with green drizzle, shamrock sprinkles, or edible shimmer for that magical St. Patrick’s Day touch.
